Early on, WilmerHale recognized the growing political and economic significance of Berlin as the government seat of unified Germany, and in 1993 was one of the first US law firms to open offices in the capital. In 2002, the firm merged with renowned and longstanding Berlin firm Quack Rechtsanwälte, founded in 1954. The range of services our internationally integrated team provides now spans the spectrum of corporate and business law, and complements the crucial role Berlin plays as a hub of politics and business. This location symbolizes WilmerHale's tradition of providing advice where law, business and policy come together.

We provide not only pure legal consulting, but also take political and other aspects of public life and perception into consideration so that our clients may optimally realize their business objectives. The attorneys in our Public Policy Group work with clients to identify, develop and execute the best strategies to defend or advance a position—whether that means anticipating and responding to fast-moving events, or working over the longer term to craft and implement legislative or regulatory solutions to complex problems. The group is closely linked to the office's strong cross-border corporate practice.

Our Berlin attorneys furthermore represent sophisticated, high-profile clients in contentious regulatory and antitrust matters. Another core strength of our office is resolving high-stakes disputes, focusing primarily on litigating and arbitrating matters that raise complex strategic, legal or factual issues and are of high importance to our clients. The group has appeared numerous times at the European Court of Justice and the Federal Supreme Courts, and regularly draws on its close links with the firm's top-tier EU Regulatory Group in Brussels.

Advising on and investigating compliance matters is another of our focus areas in Germany and across the firm. We are proud to say that our attorneys in the Frankfurt and Berlin offices are recognized as experienced leaders in the field by clients, prosecutors and other law firms.

The highly renowned IP practice focuses on complex litigation and works closely together with the firm's premier US practice.

We focus on industries that include aviation and tourism, energy, and telecommunications. In addition, we represent both domestic and foreign companies in the fields of technology and media and transport and logistics, as well as banks and financial services providers.
