We are seeking a Technology Specialist candidate with a degree in chemistry. A PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, or in a related discipline is preferred.

Technology Specialists in WilmerHale's intellectual property ("IP") practice are involved in a wide variety of types of work supervised by attorneys, including patent prosecution, client counseling, opinions, patent litigation and IP transactional matters. As part of WilmerHale's Technology Specialist Program, a Technology Specialist is expected to attend an ABA accredited law school in its evening division (day programs to be considered on a case by case basis) obtain a law degree in four years, and take and pass the USPTO patent bar examination to become registered as a patent agent. A Technology Specialist may be offered a position to participate in WilmerHale's summer associate program during the summer after his/her third year of law school. If WilmerHale extends an offer for an associate position, a Technology Specialist is then expected to take the appropriate state bar exam and become an associate at WilmerHale. Technology Specialists are eligible to participate in the firm's tuition reimbursement program for law school. Candidates should have strong academic credentials and/or prior work experience as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Financial Institutions Associates and Senior Associates

We are interested in associate and senior associate candidates (2–5 years) with experience in bank regulatory, financial services, cryptocurrency, AML/sanctions, or payments matters. Experience working at or representing clients before the OCC, CFPB, Federal Reserve, FDIC, FinCEN, or state banking agencies is important. Transactional experience is also relevant.

The associates would join WilmerHale’s growing financial services regulatory practice, which is experiencing increased demand from clients in several regulatory areas including consumer protection; anti-money laundering; payments regulation, registration, and licensing; operational risk management, including anti-fraud controls; scenario planning for climate risks; and other issues. 

Candidates should have strong subject matter expertise in one or more areas that are current enforcement priorities of the regulatory agencies. The candidates should have experience in either rulemaking, supervision, or enforcement in these areas, but this experience could be gained either by working within a regulatory agency and/or representing clients as external counsel or in-house counsel before the agencies. Strong analytic, writing, and communication skills are required.

Function:

Duties:

  • Conducts legal review and codes documents (including but not limited to electronic files, communications, and video and audio recordings) for relevance, responsiveness, and privilege
  • Conducts complex, nuanced privilege analysis and applies redactions 
  • Prepares logs of withheld and/or redacted documents
  • Prepares fact chronologies and summaries of noteworthy documents
  • Executes quality control processes of previously reviewed documents, including pre-production QC, and provides feedback as necessary
  • Collaborates closely with team members across offices on matter management and review efficiency
  • May participate in opportunities to provide non-discovery legal services to clients engaging the firm’s Corporate and Investment Management practices
  • May contribute legal project management services in support of client engagements
  • Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
