CFIUS for VCs and Startups: How Evolving Foreign Policy Is Impacting Innovation in the US

With strong bipartisan support, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is dramatically increasing its scrutiny of cross-border venture investments and acquisitions. The Kauffman Fellows and WilmerHale invite entrepreneurs, venture investors and startup executives to join us for a panel discussion and breakfast to learn more about new policies and their impact on our industry.

As evident in wide media coverage, state-sponsored intellectual property theft, international trade concerns and national security have forced increased and onerous regulatory oversight of early stage cross-border investments and transactions. Speakers will include WilmerHale Partner Jason Chipman, BIO Vice President of Tax Policy Cameron Arterton and NVCA General Counsel Jeff Farrah, each of whom is on the front lines with policymakers in Washington. They will share insights on what CFIUS already means for investors and the startup community and offer their thoughts on how regulations may evolve over the next few years.
