The Threat Disinformation and Deepfakes Pose to the Private Sector and Their Legal Implications

DC Bar
Speaking Engagement

Much has been made about the dangers disinformation and deepfakes pose to governments and society. What is less understood but no less serious is the role disinformation and digitally manipulated media can play in harming businesses, corporate reputations and financial markets. Disinformation attacks can result in significant losses of value and enduring damage to brands.

In this event, Matthew Ferraro will discuss contemporary examples of disinformation and deepfakes harming businesses, the various threat actors targeting companies, potential actions businesses can take in response to the threats, and the legal and crisis management/PR implications.

District of Columbia Bar membership is not required to attend, and the program will be available for both in-person and webcast attendance. Doors will open at noon; lunch will be served on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 12:15 p.m. ET; and program content will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET.
