WilmerHale Named Top Firm for Working Mothers & Family Planning by Yale Law Women

News

WilmerHale has been named among the Top Firms for Working Mothers & Family Planning by Yale Law Women (YLW), an organization which seeks to advance the status of women and traditionally underrepresented gender identities at Yale Law School and in the legal profession at large.

Since 2006, YLW has published the Top Firms for Gender Equity & Family Friendliness Report to raise awareness of inequities within the legal profession, highlight progress being made in the industry and identify areas for improvement. The 2020 edition marks the first year that individual firms were honored for excelling in specific categories that relate to overall gender equity and family friendliness. According to YLW, the new approach attempts to respect the diverse needs in the legal profession, while understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for creating equitable workplaces.

This year’s rankings were based off seven categories, including firm structure; training, mentorship and diversity; promotion and leadership; part-time and remote work; work-life balance and parental leave; billable hours and compensation; and mandatory arbitration and non-disclosure agreements. Firms honored in each distinct category scored highest overall on these metrics. WilmerHale was previously named on the Top Ten Friendly Firms list in 2018, 2016, 2015, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2006. All data collected in the 2020 report reflects policies and statistics from the 2019 calendar year and only included US office locations.
