Litigation Daily Names WilmerHale Team "Litigators of the Week" Runner-Up

Recognition

A WilmerHale team was recognized on July 24, 2026, as a "Litigators of the Week" runner-up in The Am Law Litigation Daily for helping secure the dismissal of two lawsuits brought against Meta Platforms, Inc. by consumers who claimed they were harmed by alleged pump-and-dump schemes advertised on Facebook and Instagram and carried out on WhatsApp.

The publication highlighted a team led by Sonal N. Mehta that successfully defended Meta against claims that the company's targeted advertising tools made it an integral participant in the alleged fraud. In a July 17 decision, Senior US District Judge William Orrick III dismissed the cases, holding that the claims were barred by the Securities Litigation Uniform Standards Act of 1998 and agreeing with a similar ruling issued in a related case last month. The decisions followed an earlier dismissal obtained by the team in Bouck v. Meta Platforms, Inc. and marked three consecutive victories for Meta in litigation arising from the alleged stock-promotion schemes.

The WilmerHale team included Mehta, Ari Holtzblatt, Jessica L. Lewis, Allison Schultz and Nathaniel Reisinger.
