Please join Akin Gump for the 2020 Arbitration Lecture, to be delivered by Maxi Scherer, professor of law at Queen Mary, University of London, where she holds the Chair for International Arbitration, Dispute Resolution and Energy Law.

Professor Dr. Scherer is admitted to practice in France and England and Wales, and has represented clients and sat as arbitrator in more than 100 commercial and investor-state arbitrations. She is regularly ranked as leading arbitration practitioner and identified amongst the top “Global Elite Thought Leaders” by peers, who recognize her “brilliant legal mind” and describe her as an “excellent academic and arbitrator,” “one of the greatest and most complete arbitrators [and] most sought-after currently practicing.” She has won the GAR Award for Best Speech or Lecture in 2018 and holds many public appointments including being a member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA); the International Advisory Board of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC); the Arbitration Court of Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (CIMAC); and the Drafting Committee for new protocols to the Arbitration Rules of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA).
