Partner Patrick Carome will facilitate the session "Hot Issues on the Internet" at this conference, which is hosted by the American Bar Association.

About the session:   There is one constant in the world of the Internet: change. From antitrust investigations of technology companies to new laws and regulations in privacy and cybersecurity, issues in the internet are always in flux. New technologies promise to provide deeper insights into our behavior while adding layers of security through blockchain. Meanwhile, in the area of internet-based content, individuals are left questioning what reality is and how to use and interpret the information they find. This workshop will dive into several hot topics, including: the state of net neutrality, updates in online trustworthiness ratings and deep fakes, the state of CDA Section 230, emerging copyright issues, trends in scraping and aggregating, anonymity, digital eavesdropping and behavioral tracking, artificial intelligence, the state of internet-related litigation and standing concerns, the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act, emerging privacy and security laws, the rise in hacking, data lakes and monetization, and other critical issues impacting the Internet of Things.
