Rupert Bondy brings an unparalleled depth of experience as a seasoned adviser to C-suites and boards, having served as chief legal officer for four of the world’s largest companies in their sectors. He has been among the world’s most widely known and highly respected corporate general counsels and remains a valuable resource for companies and boards of directors facing complex issues, especially the management of crisis situations.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Bondy held two senior roles at United Health Group. He was most recently Senior Counsel and Executive Vice President for Governance, Compliance, and Security. Upon joining the company in 2022, he was Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, overseeing all legal, compliance, and corporate governance functions.

From 2017 to 2022, Mr. Bondy was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Company Secretary at Reckitt Benckiser Group, a global consumer goods company that makes health, hygiene, and nutrition products. A member of the Executive Committee and the board’s principal legal advisor, Mr. Bondy provided strategic oversight of global legal affairs, compliance, company secretarial functions, and corporate security.

Mr. Bondy served from 2008 to 2016 as Group General Counsel at BP, one of the globe’s largest energy companies. He managed worldwide legal matters and led the response team for the Deepwater Horizon incident in 2010, the largest accidental marine oil spill in history. 

Prior to BP, Mr. Bondy spent 13 years at GlaxoSmithkKline, now GSK, in positions of increasing responsibility, eventually becoming Senior Vice President and General Counsel, an Executive Team member and counsel to the board. He oversaw global legal affairs, corporate security, environment, health and safety, compliance and ethics, and the corporate secretariat.
