Cole Dunn focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on patent disputes, trade secret claims and related unfair competition matters. He has handled matters involving medical devices, consumer electronics, biopharmaceuticals, and internet communications technologies. His experience includes district court litigation, proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office including inter partes review, and ex parte reexaminations and appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. 

Mr. Dunn was previously at another law firm, where he represented technology and life sciences companies in patent infringement actions, trade secret misappropriation actions, and patent licensing disputes. His work included Hatch-Waxman litigation and cases involving standard-essential patents with FRAND-related defenses. Earlier in his career, he served as a patent engineer and registered patent agent, advising on patent prosecution and freedom-to-operate matters.

Mr. Dunn is a co-author of publications on patent law and policy published by Bloomberg Law, Intellectual Asset Management, Global Compliance Review, Law360 and The New York Law Journal.
