Law360 named Andrew Danford, a Boston-based partner, a 2022 Rising Star in recognition of his distinguished intellectual property practice. The annual list is composed of the top 176 attorneys under the age of 40 whose legal accomplishments have outpaced their peers. Danford is one of four WilmerHale attorneys to be named to the list in 2022.

Danford represents life sciences and technology companies in intellectual property disputes during all stages of litigation—from pre-suit investigations through discovery, summary judgment, trial and appeal. According to Law360, his work on high-profile cases with household-name clients such as Apple and Genentech cement his status as an attorney to watch.

Danford’s Rising Star feature highlights his work defending Apple in a 2014 suit over a single microprocessor patent—a case that he considers to be the biggest of his career. He played an integral role and often took the lead in the eight-year-long case in which  a $506 million infringement judgment against Apple was thrown out on appeal. In his feature, Danford discusses his takeaways from the long trial, interesting cases throughout his career, the future of intellectual property law and more.
