Children’s privacy is a hot-button issue for both legislators and regulators, and companies that process children’s and teens' data should be tracking new legal developments in this space. These new developments include the Federal Trade Commission’s updates to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Rule, which go into effect on June 23, 2025, as well as new laws passing at the state level that are expanding substantive children’s privacy protections (e.g., Arkansas) and creating age verification requirements (e.g., Utah). There are also notable updates surrounding age appropriate design codes and the legal challenges those have faced throughout the country.
In this installment of WilmerBytes, a series of half-hour webinars addressing timely topics in cybersecurity and privacy, we invite you to join WilmerHale Partners Kirk Nahra and Arianna Evers and Counsel Ali Jessani as they discuss these and other important updates in children’s and teens' privacy.
