The conference, organized by the Barcelona Bar Association and including speakers from both Latin America and Europe, focused on issues related to the flexibility of arbitral proceedings. Dr. Alcoberro Llivina spoke on a panel addressing the opportunities and challenges that parties face when discussing the first procedural order. Dr. Alcoberro Llivina's presentation—titled “A Not So Indecent Proposal: Pleadings Instead Of Memorials?”—weighed the pros and cons of opting for an English-style “pleadings approach” as opposed to a “memorial approach.”
