WilmerHale Named Among Top Three Life Sciences Law Firms

Firm News

WilmerHale has been named among the top three Best Life Sciences Law Firms for 2016 in the inaugural Life Science Index. Litigation finance firm Lake Whillans launched the Index in collaboration with research partners at Breaking Media—the publisher of leading industry sites MedCity News and Above the Law. The Index identifies which law firms are the most active and relevant for life science companies. Along with the overall rankings, WilmerHale was selected as the top firm in the patent category.

“Entrepreneurs in the life sciences space face a myriad of challenges—regulatory hurdles, funding, product development, clinical trials, intellectual property matters and much more,” said Lee Drucker, principal at Lake Whillans, as reported by Above the Law. “Having the right legal counsel as a partner can easily make or break a business venture. We created this index with the goal of helping startups, as well as more established companies, identify the top law firms with deep experience in every aspect of the life sciences life cycle.”

In addition to collecting data in three practice categories—corporate, intellectual property and regulatory—the index rankings incorporate information on firms' work with startup companies, as well as the firms' thought leadership efforts. The methodology behind the Index was designed to reflect a holistic view of the role of a law firm throughout the life cycle of a life sciences company: from inception through clinical trials.
