William (Bill) Choe is a partner in WilmerHale’s Transactional Department and one of the technology industry’s top M&A dealmakers. For more than 30 years, he has represented public and private technology companies in domestic and cross-border buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, including stock and asset sales and purchases, tender offers, spin-ins, divestitures and divisional sales. His work spans sectors that include artificial intelligence, digital media streaming, voice and vision technologies, autonomous vehicles and the Internet of Things.

In the past 15 years, Mr. Choe has concentrated primarily on buy-side representations of active and serial technology acquirors. Notably, he has served as one of the “go-to” M&A lawyers for a Silicon Valley based global technology company, representing it in dozens of complex transactions, including divestitures and acquisitions of private targets, many of which involved significant cross-border elements, particularly in Europe and the Middle East. He also has substantial experience on the sell-side and regularly handles transactions from either perspective.

Additionally, Mr. Choe has extensive experience advising venture-backed technology companies as well as venture capital and private equity funds. He also has in-house experience, including serving as Vice President of Legal of a NYSE-listed company, where he oversaw mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate governance matters.

Before joining WilmerHale, Mr. Choe was a partner at multiple international law firms, where he held leadership roles including global head of technology M&A and co-head of a global technology industry group.

Mr. Choe has been recognized in leading legal directories, including Chambers USA, The Legal 500 US, Lawdragon 500, Euromoney’s Banking, Finance, and Transactional Expert Guide and Who’s Who Legal for M&A and Governance.
