Siddharth Velamoor is a first chair litigator and trial lawyer who represents multinational companies in their most financially significant and consequential commercial disputes.  He has over 15 years’ experience acting for both plaintiffs and defendants before national courts and international arbitration tribunals.

Siddharth has extensive experience in complex contractual disputes, including M&A and joint venture disputes, long-term pricing disputes, supplier disputes, and disputes arising out of infrastructure and construction projects.  He regularly helps clients pursue parallel relief in multiple fora, including state, federal, and bankruptcy courts in the United States; foreign courts; and arbitration tribunals under the rules of all major institutions.  Known for his tenacious and aggressive advocacy, he works relentlessly to understand and achieve his clients’ commercial objectives.

Before rejoining the firm, Siddharth served as a Director at The Boeing Company, where he helped lead the Company’s response to the 737 MAX groundings, including its response to government enforcement actions, its successful defense against lawsuits in U.S. and foreign courts, revisions to its compliance apparatus, and enhancements to its production system.  He regularly prepared Company executives to present to regulators, government agencies, and airline customers around the world.

Experience

  • Commercial and Financial Litigation

    Siddharth represents companies in complex business litigation in federal and state courts. His experience encompasses contract and supply-chain disputes, construction-related disputes, shareholder and corporate-governance litigation, bankruptcy-related disputes, business torts, and disputes arising from other significant commercial relationships.

    His recent and prior experience includes:

    • Representing a leading manufacturer in numerous supplier disputes arising out of disputed prices and delivery terms under long-term supply agreements.
    • Representing a Fortune 100 retailer in supplier disputes arising out of product defects, implicating disputed contractual indemnification rights, setoff rights, and parallel bankruptcy proceedings.
    • Representing a global technology company in shareholder derivative litigation.
    • Representing a leading technology and social media companies in several high-stakes litigation matters under the Stored Communications Act.
    • Representing a global technology company in products liability claims raising disputed issues under Section 230 of the Communications Act. 
    • Managed significant civil litigation for Boeing arising from the 737 MAX grounding, including lawsuits by airline customers in U.S. and foreign courts. 

  • International Arbitration

    For over 15 years, Siddharth has appeared for the world’s largest companies in significant international arbitration matters, including commercial disputes and bilateral investment treaty claims.  His experience includes:

    • Represented a multinational pharmaceutical company in an UNCITRAL investment-treaty arbitration against the Republic of Ecuador, resulting in a complete victory for our client on its claims for denial of justice.
    • Represented a global automotive manufacturer in a multi-billion-Euro ICC arbitration arising from the breakdown of a cross-border strategic alliance and joint venture.  The tribunal found that the opposing party breached its obligations under the cooperation agreement and awarded our client millions of dollars in damages.
    • Represented parties in multiple ad hoc gas-price review arbitrations arising from long-term international energy-supply agreements.
    • Represented one of the world’s largest manufacturers in a SIAC international arbitration arising out of delays in the construction of one of the world’s largest military bases.

  • Government Experience

    Earlier in his career, Siddharth served as an Assistant United States Attorney, focusing on cybercrime, intellectual-property, national-security, and white-collar matters.  He tried multiple cases to verdict and argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
