Michael Heyison is a partner in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department and a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation and Business Trial Groups. He joined the firm in 1982. Mr. Heyison serves as General Counsel to the firm and is Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee and the Litigation/Controversy Department's Standing Committee on Privilege.
Mr. Heyison has represented clients in the semiconductor, software, computer, medical device, automobile and Internet fields in patent, trade secret and competition disputes. A particular focus of his practice is determining damages in intellectual property cases. In 2003, Mr. Heyison received the Paul B. Brountas Award for extraordinary contributions to the firm.
Mr. Heyison received a JD degree from Harvard Law School, and a BA, summa cum laude, from Yale University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Heyison is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in the District of Columbia.

- Represented a business software and hardware systems company in patent infringement action in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas
- Represented a pharmaceutical company in Hatch-Waxman litigation in the US District Court for the District of Delaware
- Represented a major technology corporation in multi-defendant patent infringement litigation regarding WiFi products in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas
- Represented a multinational technology corporation in patent infringement litigation in the US District Court for the District of Delaware
