Marissa M. Wenzel
Counsel
Marissa Wenzel’s practice focuses on complex trial and appellate litigation, often against state and federal regulators. She has substantial experience litigating consumer protection claims, including class actions, for a wide range of clients. She has also defended financial-sector clients facing intricate and novel questions of payments law.
Ms. Wenzel’s experience spans the full range of civil procedure, from complaint drafting through final appeal. In an advisory capacity, Ms. Wenzel provides strategic counsel to clients facing challenging legal and policy questions under media spotlight.
Ms. Wenzel also maintains an active pro bono practice. She led briefing in two successful immigration appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, one of which she argued. She has also litigated pro bono cases in the areas of reproductive rights and racial justice.
She clerked for the Honorable Lewis J. Liman of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Honorable Stephen A. Higginson of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Honorable Keith P. Ellison of the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Ms. Wenzel has served as a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Children and the Law Committee. She currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of Rock Recovery, a nonprofit organization based in Virginia.

- Led subpoena response for 30 non-parties in litigation brought in two federal district courts.
