Bethany Thomas focuses her practice on complex litigation matters, government enforcement, and internal investigations. Ms. Thomas is a member of the Investigations & Criminal Litigation and Environmental, Energy, and Natural Resources practice groups, where she provides strategic counsel to clients facing high-stakes federal and state government enforcement matters and prepares clients for interactions with government officials. She has significant experience conducting sensitive internal investigations and regularly advises clients on issues at the intersection of public policy and the law, including civil rights and anti-discrimination compliance, employment matters, and environmental crises. Ms. Thomas also counsels nonprofit and charitable organizations on risk management across a range of grantmaking areas.  

While a student at Howard University School of Law, Ms. Thomas was a legal extern in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland and served as a student attorney where she represented clients in neglect proceedings before the DC Superior Court.

At WilmerHale, Ms. Thomas maintains her commitment to public service through an active pro bono practice which includes representing clients in housing rights, immigration, asylum, and criminal matters.
