WilmerHale Client TiVo Inc. Wins Ruling Against EchoStar Communications Corp.

Attorney News
WilmerHale recently achieved another victory in the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on behalf of TiVo Inc. in its long-running patent infringement suit against EchoStar Communications Corp., which operates the DISH Network satellite-television service.

The Federal Circuit affirmed a district court order finding EchoStar in contempt for violating a permanent injunction entered in 2006. The district court ordered EchoStar to pay TiVo more than $300 million in damages, sanctions and attorneys' fees, in addition to the amount awarded after the original trial.

WilmerHale Partner Seth Waxman argued the contempt appeal before the Federal Circuit. The WilmerHale team included Partner Edward DuMont, Counsel Daniel Volchok and Senior Associate Thomas Saunders.
