Just weeks after receiving the exclusive Outstanding Achievement Award from Chambers USA Awards for Excellence, Seth Waxman has been named a “Visionary” by The National Law Journal. Twenty lawyers, whose business foresight or legal acumen has been pivotal to improving government or advancing the law, were selected to receive this honorary award.

The National Law Journal recognized Waxman for his 60-plus oral arguments before the Supreme Court, several of which have reshaped the legal landscape, including Boumediene v. Bush, which found that Guantánamo Bay detainees have rights under the Constitution, and Roper v. Simmons, in which the Court decided that the death penalty was an unconstitutional punishment for children who commit crimes.

Champions and Visionaries were selected based on nominations from the legal community and research conducted by The National Law Journal. They will be celebrated at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington DC on September 20, 2012.
