A WilmerHale team led by partner Michael Summersgill earned a Litigation Daily “Litigators of the Week” shout‑out for successfully defeating a motion seeking to disqualify a client’s entire in‑house legal department in a Texas state court action. 

The WilmerHale team represents Natera Inc. in a lawsuit pending in Travis County District Court in Texas. Rival Caris Life Sciences Inc. moved to disqualify Natera’s full in‑house legal team from the case, which involves former Caris employees who later joined Natera. Following a one‑day mini‑trial, Judge Jessica Mangrum denied the motion in its entirety. 

Litigation Daily highlighted the WilmerHale team’s work in helping Natera fend off the disqualification effort. In addition to Summersgill, the team included partners Amanda Major and Harry Hanson and associate Nicolette Willis, with assistance from partner Chip O’Neill.
