WilmerHale is pleased to announce that Maury Riggan, an experienced investigations lawyer who served in senior roles in the White House, has rejoined the firm as a partner in its industry-leading Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice.
Riggan will advise clients on complex cybersecurity incidents, data privacy issues, high-stakes regulatory and congressional investigations, and crisis management matters. She will be based in the Washington DC office.
Riggan brings deep experience managing significant cyber investigations and regulatory problems at the federal and state level, with a particular focus on the technology and defense sectors. In addition to her experience with federal investigations, she has extensive experience handling state Attorney General investigations, including multi-state matters.
“Maury is a go-to talent with a track record of earning the confidence of clients on their most critical matters,” said Anjan Sahni, WilmerHale’s managing partner. “Her experience in private practice managing large and complicated investigations, as well as her time in government make her a valuable, multidimensional resource for both clients and colleagues.”
“I am thrilled to return to WilmerHale to work alongside exceptional colleagues helping clients navigate their most complex cybersecurity and national security challenges,” Riggan said.
Riggan spent seven years at WilmerHale before departing in 2020 to join the incoming administration’s transition team. During her time in government, she served as Senior Director for the Executive Secretariat and Deputy Legal Advisor to the National Security Council, and Associate Counsel in the Office of the White House Counsel where she advised on cybersecurity in national security systems and congressional oversight matters. She was later named General Counsel for the Biden-Harris and Harris-Walz presidential campaigns.
Riggan earned her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and her BA from Wake Forest University. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York.
