Litigation Daily named WilmerHale partners Peter Neiman, Ross Firsenbaum and their WilmerHale team Litigator of the Week Runners-Up for obtaining the dismissal of the last of three actions in Puerto Rico’s Commonwealth Court against their 12 financial institution clients. The actions sought more than $1.6 billion in damages arising from the defaults of various Puerto Rico municipal bonds. Most recently, on December 20, 2021, the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals granted the WilmerHale team’s petition for certiorari, reversed the trial court’s denial of their motion to dismiss and directed the trial court to dismiss the complaint.
