Firm News

A team of WilmerHale lawyers recently spoke at the Africa Arbitration Academy’s Flagship Training Program, an initiative of the Association of Young Arbitrators (AYA). Thirty participants from 20 African countries attended lectures given by international arbitration academics, heads of arbitration institutions and practitioners from leading international law firms.

The program covered a variety of relevant topics in international, commercial and investor-state arbitration. Members of WilmerHale’s International Arbitration Practice participated in several lectures and sessions throughout the three-week program.

Practice Chair Gary Born was one of two guest speakers in the Annual Arbitration Academy Debate titled “Party-Nominated Co-Arbitrators: Yes or No?,” in which he debated the viability of party appointed arbitrators. Partner Steven Finizio held a lecture titled “Taking and Presenting Evidence in International Arbitration”. Counsel Jonathan Lim, Marija Scekic and Ole Jensen held a lecture and interactive workshop on disclosure and document production.
