Law Week Colorado Names Partner John Walsh One of the State’s Top Litigators

Recognition

Denver Partner John Walsh has been named one of Colorado’s most talented and accomplished litigation attorneys by Law Week Colorado. The recognition, part of the publication’s annual Top Litigators awards, recognizes “the leading trial attorneys in the state who had the biggest wins—and saves.” Mr. Walsh was selected based on his work for clients Anadarko and DaVita.

Ken Salazar, the partner-in-charge of the Denver office of WilmerHale, said that Mr. Walsh’s strength in the courtroom is his overarching commitment to maintaining the trust of both judges and juries by presenting the facts and law with integrity, balance and zeal for his clients.

“John believes that good courtroom presentation requires extraordinary preparation, and that both judges and juries respond best to narratives that connect the crucial in-the-weeds details with the bigger picture,” Mr. Salazar said. “He also brings to the courtroom a profound respect and appreciation for the legal process and both judges and jury that infuses every step he takes in litigation.”

Law Week Colorado also noted Mr. Walsh’s commitment to pro bono service. Most recently, Mr. Walsh led a team of WilmerHale attorneys who represented immigrant parents and relatives who were detained and separated from their children during the fall 2018 family separation crisis. The team successfully helped multiple parents obtain bond and release from the Aurora detention center to pursue reunification with their children and pursue their asylum cases outside of the jail-like confines of detention and in the much more supportive environment among family. For their efforts, Mr. Walsh and his Denver colleagues are being recognized with the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN) 2019 Pro Bono Service Award for outstanding achievements on behalf of immigrant and refugee communities.
