Speaking Engagement

WilmerHale partners, Elizabeth Mitchell and Kirk Nahra will participate in panel discussions at the International Association of Defense Counsel’s 2026 Corporate Counsel College, taking place April 16–17, 2026, in Chicago.

Elizabeth Mitchell will participate in a panel titled, "Evolving Agencies, Enduring Obligations: What Counsel Need to Know."

  • The landscape for practice before administrative agencies is changing, driven by executive orders, policy memoranda, and shifting enforcement priorities. Yet companies’ obligations—and the consequences of missteps—remain significant. This session will examine current trends within the Department of Justice and key agencies, including the SEC and EEOC, and their practical implications for investigations, compliance, and litigation strategy. A panel of experts will share concrete recommendations to help in-house and outside counsel recalibrate expectations, update playbooks, and continue to advocate effectively amid uncertainty.

Kirk Nahra, Co-Chair of WilmerHale’s Artificial Intelligence practice and Cybersecurity and Privacy practice, will participate in a panel titled, “From Due Diligence to Decommissioning: Managing AI Risk in the Legal Department."

  • This panel will bring together seasoned in house and outside counsel to explore the legal, regulatory and ethical challenges corporate legal departments face as artificial intelligence becomes more deeply integrated into business operations. Panelists will examine the current AI litigation and regulatory landscape and share practical guidance on vetting, contracting with, monitoring and auditing AI vendors, as well as strategies for mitigating the most significant legal risks associated with AI adoption.
