WilmerHale Partner and co-chair of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence Practice and Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice, Kirk Nahra, presented a session titled “Navigating the New World of Health Care Privacy” on Tuesday, May 20 from 12–1 p.m. ET at BlueCross BlueShield Association’s Law, Audit, Compliance & Ethics Conference taking place in New Orleans, LA.
The session addressed the increasingly complicated and confusing word of health care privacy. It reviewed the primary new developments related to health care privacy and assessed the key challenges for plans in complying and managing these new obligations. These challenges include new restrictions on data usage, data security risks, client and vendor obligations, new state law obligations, cross-border transfer issues and a new set of issues related to effective utilization of data in an AI environment.
