On November 29, Jonathan Lim spoke at the Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration (AFIA) London Symposium and Winter Social, which was hosted by Kirkland & Ellis.
Mr. Lim gave a presentation on recent developments in Chinese investment treaty arbitration. He addressed the evolution of Chinese investment treaties and common issues in investment cases involving Chinese treaties, including the interpretation of “amount of compensation” clauses and the territorial scope of Chinese investment treaties (in particular, whether they extend to Hong Kong and Macau). The panel also comprised speakers from King & Spalding, Kirkland & Ellis, Skadden and Jones Day.
