Washington Business Journal Recognizes WilmerHale for Corporate Philanthropy

Firm News

The Washington Business Journal has honored WilmerHale as part of its 2012 Corporate Philanthropy Awards, recognizing the firm as one of the area’s Top 10 Law Firms based on annual pro bono hours of service in the DC metro region.

A steadfast commitment to pro bono representation has been a hallmark of WilmerHale since the early 20th century. Through various channels, such as the firm’s Pickering Fellowships and the WilmerHale Legal Services Center, attorneys of all levels have been involved in many influential legal cases and public interest matters that have shaped the nation and influenced historic developments around the globe. As measured by The American Lawyer, our pro bono program ranks as one of the top in the country.

In addition to its dedicated pro bono practice, WilmerHale operates under a focused philanthropy model, allowing the firm to concentrate its resources and time on a small group of organizations. The model includes multi-year financial support, pro bono legal representation, in-kind donations and volunteer service. Numerous volunteer events are hosted in WilmerHale’s offices with firm lawyers and staff coming together to serve the community. Our longstanding community partnerships in Washington DC include Bread for the City and See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Schools.

The Washington Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards is an annual ceremony honoring the region’s most active and inspirational companies and nonprofits, who have made an impact in their communities through both financial means and philanthropic work. This year’s honorees will be awarded on May 11 at the Capital Hilton hotel in DC.
