Firm News

Washington, D.C. — March 31, 1999 — Wilmer Cutler Pickering LLP is delighted to announce that Mark Pollak and Ted Millspaugh, formerly partners of Piper & Marbury, will join the firm as partners on April 1, 1999. Their experience in a wide range of real estate and municipal finance transactions will add to Wilmer's premier public real estate and corporate practice.

Mr. Pollak has more than 26 years of experience in real estate development and finance and municipal finance matters. He is known particularly for his involvement in the public financing of complex real estate projects, major sports stadiums, and the creation of public-private partnerships for development of central business districts. Mr. Pollak has been very involved with development activities in downtown Baltimore and he works closely with the business community for the betterment of Baltimore City. He was recently selected as one of two top real estate lawyers in a poll of lawyers conducted by Baltimore Magazine. His clients include, among others, Port Discovery Children's Museum, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Washington Redskins, and major real estate developers and investors in the mid-Atlantic area.

Mr. Millspaugh has practiced law for over 12 years, also in the field of real estate development and finance. He represents institutional investors, lenders, and developers and has significant experience with real estate transactions throughout the United States. Adding Messrs. Pollak and Millspaugh will enable Wilmer to enhance its service to existing clients and expand the firm's practice in the Baltimore-Washington area and in the field of public real estate law throughout the United States.

George P. Stamas, partner of the firm's Baltimore office and co-chairman of its Corporate Practice Group, said: "Mark and Ted have a wealth of experience in real estate matters. Their practice will allow us to better serve our clients and is a perfect fit with our active and growing corporate practice. As we expand our Baltimore presence, we are significantly enhancing our commitment to the region and the City."

Mark Pollak said: "In moving to Wilmer, I look forward to further involvement with the City of Baltimore and development activities within downtown. I am confident we can expand our national practice to serve Wilmer's broad client base."
