Kevin Prussia has been honored as a 2018 recipient of The National Bar Association’s (NBA) “40 Under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates” award. This award recognizes the nation’s top 40 lawyers under the age 40 who exemplify a broad range of high achievement in the legal field, including in advocacy, innovation, vision, leadership, and overall legal and community involvement.
“As one of the preeminent bar associations in the world, these specific awards given annually recognize the 40 lawyers under 40 who help advance the causes of justice, equality, professionalism and community service,” said Juan Thomas, NBA President. “We look forward to observing even more substantive work from the awardees in the future, including continued involvement in matters that create new legal and innovative initiatives, enhance access to justice for all citizens, and improve community service. We believe each of this year’s recipients will continue to advance flashes of the same level of leadership, activism and professional acumen shown by our past and current group of NBA leaders,” he said.
Prussia is a Boston-based partner at WilmerHale with extensive experience advising technology and life sciences companies on intellectual property matters as part of his multidisciplinary practice. In addition to serving these clients, Prussia has an unwavering dedication to the legal profession and community service. He is recognized for his outstanding leadership efforts, which include his role as the president of the Board of Directors for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Massachusetts and serving as a legal monitor of one of the longest court-ordered consent decrees in the country—governing the hiring practices of entry level police and fire officers in Massachusetts. Recently, Prussia is lead counsel along with the ACLU in a putative class action challenging the practice of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of separating married couples and families pursuing lawful immigration status.
Prussia and his fellow recipients of this year’s awards were honored last night at the National Bar Association’s 40 Under 40 Awards Gala, during the NBA’s 93rd Annual Convention in New Orleans, LA.
The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 and is the nation's oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges. It represents the interests of more than 65,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students.
