Robert L. Boone, a former federal prosecutor and accomplished trial lawyer, focuses on government and internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation and regulatory compliance. Recognized by Bloomberg Law as one of the top white-collar lawyers to know in the publication’s “They’ve Got Next” series, Mr. Boone has secured successful outcomes for prominent corporations and individuals in some of their most challenging criminal and civil matters, including in connection with inquiries by the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission. A former Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Mr. Boone led some of the SDNY’s most high-profile trials and investigations of recent years.

Mr. Boone spent nearly a decade as a federal prosecutor, ultimately trying twelve cases to jury verdict and arguing numerous appeals before the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He served as a senior member of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force and the Public Corruption Unit, investigating and prosecuting a wide range of financial and corruption-related crimes, including securities, accounting and other financial fraud, insider trading, bribery and extortion. The significant investigations and prosecutions he led include those against the former CEO of a publicly traded company for a $100 million accounting fraud; a former top aide to then–New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for bribery and wire fraud; NCAA basketball coaches and athlete advisors for bribery and wire fraud; and celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti for extortion. Mr. Boone was honored with several awards for his service, including the Federal Prosecutor of the Year Award from the US Department of Homeland Security’s New York Office and the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation.

Before joining the SDNY, Mr. Boone was a litigation associate at WilmerHale. Prior to that role, he practiced at another international law firm and was a law clerk to the Honorable Damon J. Keith of the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
