Lara Markey represents clients in complex litigation matters and high-stakes government investigations.  Ms. Markey represents a wide range of clients, including technology companies, defense contractors and individuals facing allegations of criminal or civil misconduct.  Drawing on both her education in engineering from MIT and prior government service, Ms. Markey is uniquely positioned to assist clients in response to cybersecurity incidents and investigations.  Ms. Markey also has specific expertise in responding to False Claims Act investigations and litigation.

Prior to her time at WilmerHale, Ms. Markey served as a term clerk for both Judge Diana Gribbon Motz of the US Fourth Circuit Court in Baltimore and Judge Beryl A. Howell of the US District Court in Washington DC. While in law school, she also worked as a legal intern in the Counterterrorism Section of the National Security Division of the Department of Justice and as an extern with the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Connecticut.

Prior to entering law school, Ms. Markey worked at a top management consulting firm advising the Department of Defense and other US government agencies on supply chain management, IT system efficiency and engineering maintenance practices.  Ms. Markey also consulted Fortune 500 companies on strategic initiatives, merger planning and investment strategy.  Ms. Markey’s diverse background also includes prior work in the United States intelligence community.
