Joshua L. Mogil advises clients on high-stakes corporate crises, investigations, compliance and regulatory enforcement matters. Drawing on deep experience across government, banking and the legal sector, Josh provides strategic counsel to financial institutions, commercial clients and individuals. Before rejoining the firm, Josh served as a senior political appointee at the US Department of Justice, first as congressional oversight counsel and then as senior counsel and deputy chief of staff to the Deputy Attorney General. Josh also held roles at Capital One in compliance and risk management, at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the White House, USAID and US Department of State. He began his legal career clerking on the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and on the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. An active leader in the legal community, Josh serves as an adjunct law professor at Georgetown Law, on the elected Board of Governors of the DC Bar, on the Board of Directors of the DC Bar Pro Bono Center and on the advisory board of the DC LGBTQ+ Bar Association, where he most recently served as president.
