Jamie Yood
Counsel
Jamie Yood represents companies, educational institutions, and individuals in government investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation. He handles matters before the Department of Justice, state attorneys general, and Congress from initial inquiry through resolution, helping clients navigate the legal, reputational, and business implications of government scrutiny.
Mr. Yood has particular experience advising technology companies, drawing on his prior work in public affairs in Silicon Valley. He has defended companies in civil rights litigation brought by the United States, responded to congressional investigations involving consumer data and privacy, and resolved Department of Justice enforcement matters concerning core business practices. In these engagements, he works with legal and business teams to develop coordinated communications with regulators, employees, and the public.
Mr. Yood also advises and represents colleges and universities in federal civil rights enforcement matters and congressional investigations. He has guided institutions through Title VI reviews and congressional inquiries involving federally funded research, and represents a university before the US Supreme Court in litigation concerning the scope of Title IX.
An experienced litigator, Mr. Yood has challenged government action through constitutional and Administrative Procedure Act litigation and represented clients in complex commercial and antitrust disputes. He has negotiated resolutions with government authorities, including a series of settlements with states, cities, and counties exceeding $3 billion.
His government-facing practice also includes advising companies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals on political law, campaign finance, and government ethics. He counsels presidential appointees on conflict-of-interest and financial disclosure requirements associated with public service and has represented clients in inquiries before the Federal Election Commission.
Mr. Yood maintains an active pro bono practice focused on civil rights and government accountability matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Yood served as a law clerk for the Honorable Katherine B. Forrest of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, and as a law clerk in the Criminal Division of the US Attorney's Office in San Francisco, California. Before law school, he worked at Google, where he managed global communications on significant corporate issues and public affairs initiatives.
