James Townsend focuses his practice on complex litigation and arbitration matters. Mr. Townsend was previously a summer associate at the firm.

Before returning to the firm, Mr. Townsend clerked for the Honorable Claude M. Hilton at the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. During law school, he was a judicial extern to the Honorable Amit P. Mehta at the US District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Townsend has also worked at the US Attorney Office for the Southern District of New York, where he was a criminal division intern. Prior to law school, Mr. Townsend was an honors paralegal at the Federal Trade Commission in the Office of the General Counsel.
