Frederik Gutmann is an associate in the Government and Regulatory Affairs department. He advises national and international companies on all aspects of German and EU competition law, with a particular focus on representing clients in proceedings before German and European competition authorities and courts. His practice also includes advising on merger control proceedings and on German and international foreign direct investment (FDI) review matters.

Frederik joined WilmerHale in 2026. Prior to that, he earned his doctorate from Humboldt University of Berlin under the supervision of Professor Heike Schweitzer, focusing on competition law. He completed his legal clerkship (Referendariat) at, among others, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, a leading competition law firm, and a global technology company.
