Cristina Jaramillo
Special Counsel
Cristina Jaramillo focuses her practice on complex matters in the blockchain and digital assets sector. She has extensive experience advising on regulatory strategy and compliance issues arising from the development and operation of blockchain-based products and services. Her deep technical expertise and familiarity with the crypto/Web3 ecosystem uniquely position her to advise clients on innovative products and structures at the intersection of traditional financial services and blockchain‑based technologies.
Prior to rejoining the firm, she served as associate general counsel at a blockchain software development company where she was responsible for regulatory and product matters across securities, commodities, money transmission, anti-money laundering and sanctions regimes. Her work included advising on regulatory risk related to operating a layer 2 blockchain, interoperability across blockchains, and the launch of new products and services. Prior to that, she worked at a major cryptocurrency exchange where she provided strategic regulatory advice on new and existing products and services, advised on applicable regulatory frameworks, and counseled on risk mitigation approaches.
Ms. Jaramillo began her legal career at WilmerHale, advising clients on broker-dealer regulation and compliance, focusing on federal securities laws and self-regulatory organization rules. While attending law school, she was a legal intern in the Division of Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission and in the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Prior to law school, she was a financial economist at the SEC’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis and a research analyst at The Brattle Group.
