Robert L. Boone, a former federal prosecutor and accomplished trial lawyer, focuses on trials, government and internal investigations, white collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation and regulatory compliance. Mr. Boone has served as lead or co-lead attorney in more than a dozen federal trials, including some of the most complex in recent years. Mr. Boone has also negotiated favorable resolutions for prominent corporations and individuals in connection with matters involving the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Boone was recognized by Bloomberg Law as one of the top white-collar lawyers to know in the publication’s “They’ve Got Next” series and is Chambers USA ranked for White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations. He has been praised in Chambers USA as “terrific,” “a real talent,” “an expert from a strategic leadership standpoint,” and possessing “all the skillsets and the trial presence.”
Mr. Boone spent nearly a decade as an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he led some of the SDNY’s most high-profile trials and investigations, including those against a former top aide to then–New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for bribery and wire fraud; NCAA basketball coaches and athlete advisors for bribery and wire fraud, and celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti for extortion. At the time Mr. Boone left the SDNY, he was a senior member of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force, where he conducted a number of joint and parallel investigations with the FBI, SEC, CFTC, IRS, and other agencies.
Before joining the SDNY, Mr. Boone was a litigation associate at WilmerHale. Prior to that role, he practiced at another international law firm and was a law clerk to the Honorable Damon J. Keith of the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Mr. Boone serves as co-chair of the firm's Hiring Committee in New York.
