Following the election of Mexico’s first independent candidates in various public offices, public participation in political decisions has reached unprecedented levels. In particular, through the introduction of a new anti-corruption system and several bills to reduce the public funding for political parties, Mexico has adopted measures to counter the effects of two of its greatest evils—corruption and bureaucracy.
