In an annual Boston Business Journal survey ranking the area’s largest intellectual property law (IP) firms, WilmerHale was identified as the largest IP firm in the area.

The firm moved from the number three spot in 2003 to the number one spot in 2004 listing 84 Massachusetts IP lawyers out of its 302 Massachusetts lawyers. In 2003, the firm filed 1,232 patent applications and 378 patents were granted.

Jim Lampert, chair of the IP Department quoted on the influx of attorneys stating, “It’s an investment that’s been required by the marketplace.”
