WilmerHale Helps Secure Phase-I EC Clearance for $8.5 Billion Acquisition of BEA by Oracle

Attorney News
WilmerHale represented BEA Systems, Inc. on the European Commission (EC) merger clearance aspects of its $8.5 billion acquisition by Oracle Corporation. It was Oracle's largest acquisition since the Redwood Shores-based company paid $11.1 billion for PeopleSoft Inc. in 2005. The EC cleared the merger on April 29, allowing the deal to close, without an in-depth investigation.

The WilmerHale legal team representing BEA on the deal included Sven Völcker, Christian Duvernoy, and Cormac O'Daly.
