WilmerHale Counsel Alan Schoenfeld Named to “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40”

The National LGBT Bar Association recognized WilmerHale Counsel Alan Schoenfeld as one of the "Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40" during an awards ceremony at the association's the 25th anniversary of the Lavender Law Conference in San Francisco on August 24, 2013. Schoenfeld was selected for this recognition on account of his extraordinary accomplishments in the field of law and profound commitment to LGBT.

Schoenfeld is a counsel in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department and recently served as co-counsel to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in its challenge of the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). He also worked on the firm's amicus briefs in the United States v. Windsor and the Hollingsworth v. Perry cases. Schoenfeld maintains an extensive pro bono practice with a particular focus on LGBT, immigration and special education matters.

The National LGBT Bar Association is an association of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals, which promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBT community. This was the fourth year the award has been presented.
