Attorney News

WilmerHale is pleased to announce the arrival of Adit Khorana as partner in the firm’s Palo Alto office. Mr. Khorana joins WilmerHale as a member of the firm’s Corporate and Transactional Department and the Technology Transactions & Licensing Group.

“We are excited to welcome Adit to the firm,” said Steven D. Singer, Chair of WilmerHale’s Technology Transactions & Licensing Group. “He joins our renowned team of Technology Transactions & Licensing lawyers—a team that leverages the technical knowledge, business acumen and legal experience offered throughout the firm. Adit will lead our Technology Transactions & Licensing Group on the West Coast, and will enhance the firm’s capabilities in the areas of technology mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex transactions where intellectual property is a major issue.”

Mr. Khorana arrives at WilmerHale from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he had been since 1994. His practice focuses on the representation of technology companies, from startups to Fortune 100 corporations, with a particular emphasis on mobile/wireless, Internet/Web 2.0, semiconductor, computer software and hardware, and consumer electronics companies. Mr. Khorana represents clients in the structuring and negotiation of complex domestic and international technology transactions, including strategic alliances, joint ventures, and other collaboration and partnering arrangements; technology acquisitions, mergers and spin-offs; outsourcing transactions; and commercial transactions for the development, licensing, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of technology and technology products.

“Adit is one of the most widely respected corporate lawyers in Silicon Valley for his deep knowledge of intellectual property and technology law and his extensive experience in handling the most complex corporate transactions. His arrival continues the expansion of our transactional practice in Palo Alto,” added Mark Selwyn, Partner-in-Charge of WilmerHale’s Palo Alto office.

WilmerHale’s Technology Transactions & Licensing Group is made up of 25 lawyers who each year handle hundreds of strategic alliances, joint ventures, outsourcing and licensing transactions. The team is widely recognized for its work—most recently ranked as one of only three “leading” law firms in the United States for Commercial/Partnering by PLC Cross-Border Life Sciences Handbook 2009/10. WilmerHale’s Corporate Group—which was just last month named as a tier-one firm for corporate law and M&A in the nation in the U.S. News - Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” rankings—has decades of experience advising public and private companies in all aspects of mergers and acquisitions in both the US and Europe. In 2009, the firm advised clients throughout the US and Europe on more than 75 M&A transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $30 billion, providing guidance in areas including corporate, securities, antitrust and tax. Since 2000, the team has participated in more than 1,300 mergers and acquisitions valued in excess of $650 billion, ranging from sales of VC-backed companies to multibillion-dollar global mergers.

“I am very pleased to join WilmerHale,” said Mr. Khorana. “As a leading firm for Technology Transactions & Licensing, Corporate and IP, WilmerHale offers a team with the highest level of expertise and innovative client work.”

Mr. Khorana earned his JD from Stanford Law School, where he was editor of the Stanford Law & Technology Newsletter and helped launch the Stanford Law & Technology Policy Center. He graduated summa cum laude from Purdue University with a BS in computer engineering and electrical engineering. Mr. Khorana is admitted to the California Bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
