WilmerHale was honored as Law Firm of the Year at The American Lawyer’s 2025 Industry Awards at a November 13 awards ceremony in New York City.
WilmerHale was recognized for its litigation in federal court against the Executive Order against the firm, along with Clement & Murphy, which is representing it. Also recognized were the three other firms litigating the EOs -- Perkins Coie, Jenner & Block, and Susman Godfrey, and the firms representing them, Williams & Connolly, Cooley, and Munger Tolles & Olson, respectively.
As the American Lawyer reported, it was: “the first time, a group of firms jointly received the Law Firm of the Year honor...” The publication cited “their collective role in challenging White House executive orders aimed at the legal industry earlier this year."
In addition to this top honor, WilmerHale was a finalist in several categories:
- Best Provider Collaboration for its work with co-counsel the Law Offices of Joel B. Rudin P.C. and Hoover & Durland in the Buffalo Five case, which resulted in a $28 million jury verdict for a wrongly convicted man.
- Media Advocacy Award for successfully defending The New York Times against a defamation lawsuit brought by Sarah Palin, former vice-presidential nominee and Alaska governor.
- Managing Partner of the Year for Anjan Sahni.
- Most Promising Newcomer for associates Reid Carroll, who advises broker-dealers and securities exchanges, and Bethany Thomas, whose practice focuses on complex litigation.
- Litigation Department of the Year for both General Litigation and IP Litigation.
