Meredith Cross Appointed SEC Historical Society President

WilmerHale’s Meredith Cross has been appointed president of the SEC Historical Society.

Cross, a partner in the firm’s Securities and Transactional Departments in the New York and Washington DC, succeeds Susan Markel, who has been named Chair of the Society.

Through its virtual museum and archive, the Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society shares, preserves and advances knowledge of the history of financial regulation.

“This year marks the 90th anniversary of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the 25th year since the SEC Historical Society's founding. I have tremendous respect for the SEC and its staff, including from my years serving as Director of the Division of Corporation Finance and from my time assisting clients working with the SEC and its staff. I am honored to serve as president of the SEC Historical Society during the anniversary,” Cross said. “I look forward to representing the independent, nonpartisan, and nonprofit organization's mission to preserve and share the history of financial regulation.”

Founded in 1999, the independent non-profit society is separate from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
