Special Counsel Professor Maxi Scherer has been elected to a four-year term as one of nine new Governing Board Members for the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). Her term will commence on April 1, 2022. ICCA is a global non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to promoting the use and improving the processes of arbitration, conciliation and other forms of international dispute resolution. Since its inception in 1961, ICCA has championed the harmonization of arbitration and conciliation rules, laws, procedures and standards.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Body, ICCA President Lucy Reed commented, “I could not be more pleased with the new ICCA leaders. The nine new Members of the Governing Board…will bring a wealth of international arbitration experience and wisdom to ICCA.”

Professor Scherer, who is based in WilmerHale’s London office, has extensive experience with arbitral practice both in civil and common law systems.
