In this article, the Daily Journal features Laura Donaldson for her ongoing work in a pro bono parole case on behalf of client Ellis C. Curtis, who was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for a murder that occurred when he was a minor. Curtis didn't pull the trigger, but was sentenced to life for his role in the armed robbery that led to the killing. Now 40 years of age, Curtis has been granted parole and awaits Governor Jerry Brown's signature that may make him a free man in a matter of weeks. Read the article.
