Counsel Ali Jessani will join Alaap Shah, Member of the Firm at Epstein Becker Green, Tahvia Jenkins, US Privacy Officer at Sanofi and Sajjad Matin, Principal Counsel, Cybersecurity at the University of California, in a panel discussion titled, “Cyber Rx: Legal Prescriptions for Protecting Health Data in 2025” at the 2025 NAPABA Convention in Denver, Colorado.

As technology, data digitization, and interoperability reshape the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem, the threat landscape continues to evolve. In 2024, cyberattacks—ransomware, social engineering, and more—disrupted care, exposed sensitive patient data, and inflicted financial and reputational harm across hospitals, health plans, biopharma, and third-party vendors. With attacks escalating in 2025, organizations face mounting pressure to strengthen cybersecurity. This panel will explore the shifting legal and regulatory landscape, including proposed federal legislation like HISAA, updates to HIPAA and CIRCIA, state-level mandates in New York and California and international enforcement under GDPR.
